About

A notebook for the in-between.

Carnet is a quarterly of writing sitting somewhere between the crisp internationalism of Monocle and the warm, optimistic lines of Brazilian 1960s modernism.

It is written and made by a novelist, architectural designer, and ceramicist who travels slowly and pays attention to the shape of places: the rooflines of a coastal town, the weight of a bowl in the hand, the sentence that arrives in a hotel room at dawn.

Each quarterly collects dispatches across four desks — design, travel, watch, and read — designed to read like a small magazine you might find in a good bookshop or a friend's carry-on.
